Greetings, All - in this video I discuss the "charms" I've been collecting over the years while researching/writing AT THE HOUSE BETWEEN DOG AND WOLF - and the power of objects.
Today's guest is Tara Ison a writer and author of several books, and currently a Professor of Fiction at Arizona State University. Tara Ison discusses her new novel, "At the Hour Between Dog and Wolf". Tara and Betsy discussed how the transformation of the character Danielle/ Marie-Jeanne was just shocking! A young French Jewish girl becoming a Fascist! The discussion leads to Anti-Semitism, and how it is on the rise.
Join authors Tara Ison, author of At the Hour Between Dog and Wolf, and Laraine Herring, author of A Constellation of Ghosts: A Speculative Memoir with Ravens, for a short reading from their latest books, along with a discussion about the impact of early father loss, how grief manifests and shapes a life, and how the stories we tell ourselves—fact or fiction—make all the difference…
Tuesday, March 28, 2023, Birch Bark Editing hosted a reading and conversation with Tara Ison and David Ryan. Tara read from At the Hour Between Dog and Wolf and David read from his work.
The main character of the novel, a young Jewish girl living in hiding as a Catholic orphan in WWII France, is led further and further away from her Jewish heritage, and increasingly drawn to Catholicism. The Rosary, especially, becomes a meaningful symbol for her; here I discuss the critical role the Rosary plays in the novel.
My guest is Tara Ison, author of the new novel “At the Hour Between Dog and Wolf”. It's a hauntingly beautiful novel about identity and shows how a vulnerable mind can be tragically reshaped under the influence of extremist ideologies. Tara is a two time recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship and her previous novel Rockaway was featured as one of the best books of the summer in O, The Oprah Magazine.
In this interview, Superstition Review's blog editor Brennie Shoup talks to Tara Ison, an award-winning author and Professor of Fiction at Arizona State University, about her new book "At the Hour Between Dog and Wolf." Find the transcript of this interview on the Superstition Review blog (coming Monday, March 6th).
